About Kylie...

Kylie is a Canadian-Australian screenwriter, director, and producer who began her artistic journey in community theatre. After pursuing a career as a chef and culinary instructor that spanned almost two decades and four countries, Kylie's focus returned to performing arts and visual media, determined to create and armed with stories to tell. Since then, Kylie established her US-based production company, Gladiolus Productions, with producing partner Robyn Babina and, upon returning to Canada, founded Yarn Spinner Entertainment, her Canadian production company. 

Kylie has produced, written, and directed award-winning, independent projects that include the short drama, ‘Moral Compass,’ and psychological thriller feature, ‘The Dog Walker,’ distributed by Leomark Studios.

 

Recent projects include the pilot presentation of ‘Wellness Inc.,’ a comedy sitcom that she created, currently being pitched in North America. Her COVID era virtual web series, ‘Auto Boss,’ winner of Best Comedy at the 202 SoCal film awards.

 

Since returning to Canada from the US in 2019, Kylie has worked as an Assistant Director on independent projects in Calgary before joining the Directors Guild of Canada. A highlight for her 2020 progress was being selected for the Alberta Producer's Accelerator Program, where she is developing a Canadian drama set in Northern Alberta & BC. Kylie’s awards include Best Director – Atlantic City Cinefest, Artist of the Year at the Northern Virginia International Film Festival, Best Dramatic Feature at the New Haven International Film Festival and others. A full list of awards and industry achievements can be viewed below. 

 

Kylie is proud to be a member of the DGC and Australian Writers Guild. She has earned an M.Ed. from The University of Tasmania, a B.Ed. from the University of Canberra, and screenwriting certificates from NYU and UCLA extension programs. Kylie believes in life-long learning and continues to participate in professional development programs, industry seminars, conferences and workshops. She is a visual storyteller with strong organizational and leadership skills and thrives in a collaborative, artistic environment.
